Loose Lay Vinyl

Heavy planks that stay put without glue or clicks.

Loose lay vinyl is a plank you set down rather than lock together. Each piece is heavier than standard vinyl plank and has a friction backing, so the floor stays where it's laid once the room is fitted wall to wall.

It suits rooms where you want the floor down quickly or may need to get under it later. It needs a flat, clean subfloor to sit right, so we check that first and quote any patching or leveling as its own line.

Worth knowing before you order

No glue, no locking joints

Planks are cut to fit and set in place. That keeps install time short and means there's no adhesive smell to air out afterwards.

One plank at a time

If a plank gets gouged or stained, it can be lifted and replaced on its own. Keep a few spares from your order for exactly this.

The subfloor decides the result

Loose lay follows whatever is under it. Dips and ridges show through, so prep work matters more here than with a thicker click-together floor.

How the install goes

  1. 1

    In-home measure

An estimator walks the space, checks subfloor condition, and gives you a written number before anything is ordered.

  2. 2

    Material lead time

Most in-stock lines ship within a week. Special-order finishes can take three to four weeks — we'll tell you which category yours falls into up front.

  3. 3

    Install day(s)

Furniture gets moved by the crew, old flooring comes out, and the new floor goes down. Average timeline is on the specs list above.

  4. 4

    Final walk-through

Your crew lead walks the room with you before packing up, so anything that needs a second look gets caught the same day.
