Stair Flooring

Treads, risers, and nosing that match the floor they lead to.

Stairs take more cutting and fitting per square foot than any room in the house, which is why they're priced by the step rather than by area. Every tread and riser is measured and cut individually.

We finish stairs to go with the flooring at the top and bottom, and cap each step with a stair nose so the edge is solid underfoot and doesn't chip.

Worth knowing before you order

Each step is its own job

Stairs are rarely perfectly even from one step to the next. Treads and risers are cut to the step they're going on, not from one template.

Nosing does the hard work

The front edge of a step takes most of the wear. A proper stair nose protects it and gives your foot a consistent edge on the way down.

Done with the rest of the floor

Having stairs done in the same job as the adjoining rooms keeps color and material consistent and avoids a second visit.

How the install goes

  1. 1

    In-home measure

An estimator walks the space, checks subfloor condition, and gives you a written number before anything is ordered.

  2. 2

    Material lead time

Most in-stock lines ship within a week. Special-order finishes can take three to four weeks — we'll tell you which category yours falls into up front.

  3. 3

    Install day(s)

Furniture gets moved by the crew, old flooring comes out, and the new floor goes down. Average timeline is on the specs list above.

  4. 4

    Final walk-through

Your crew lead walks the room with you before packing up, so anything that needs a second look gets caught the same day.
